The Six Posts, Their Fields and Their Email Addresses

The One Rule That Rules Out Many Graduates

An internship in the public service is a once-off opportunity per qualification, and MISA states this plainly: graduates who have previously participated in an internship programme will not be considered. If you already used your qualification for a government internship before, this programme is closed to you, even if you are still unemployed.

You must also be an unemployed South African graduate. The programme is built for people who finished studying and have not yet found work, not for people who want to change jobs.

What to Send Now, and What to Keep for Later

Do not send a heavy folder of documents. MISA asks for only two things at this stage: a fully completed and signed new Z83 form, and a recent detailed CV with contactable referees, showing their telephone numbers and email addresses.

Certified copies of your qualifications are not required now. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked for certified qualifications, and they will also go through suitability checks on criminal records, citizenship, financial records and qualifications. Keep your certified copies ready so a shortlist call does not find you unprepared.

How to Apply, Step by Step

  1. Download the new Z83 form from the DPSA website and complete every part of it, then sign it. An old Z83 form will lead to your application being thrown out.
  2. Choose the one post above that matches your qualification, and write its reference number on the Z83 where the form asks for it.
  3. Attach the signed Z83 and your detailed CV to an email, and quote the reference number in the email as well.
  4. Send the email to the address listed for that specific post, and make sure it arrives before the closing date.
  5. Direct questions to To The T Recruitment on (010) 102 3607.

Small Errors That Cost Graduates These Posts

The most common failure is a mismatch: a Human Resources graduate applying to the Internal Audit address, or quoting the wrong reference number on the Z83. Each post is processed separately, so a misdirected email is usually never seen by the right panel.

Before you press send, check that your Z83 is the new form, fully completed and signed, and that your referees can actually be reached. Unreachable referees slow down or sink a shortlisted application.

What Happens After the Closing Date

Correspondence is limited to shortlisted candidates only, so most applicants will hear nothing at all. If you are not contacted within three months of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful.

Successful candidates sign an employment contract and a performance agreement within three months of appointment, and complete a financial interest declaration within one month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for more than one MISA internship post?

Each post has its own reference number and email address, and each panel works separately. Apply for the post your qualification genuinely matches, quoting its reference number, instead of sending the same application to all six addresses.

I did a government internship before. Can I apply?

No. MISA states that internship in the public service is a once-off opportunity per qualification, and graduates who previously participated in an internship programme will not be considered.

Do I need to send certified copies of my qualifications with my application?

No. Send only the completed and signed new Z83 form and a detailed CV. Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified qualifications.

How much does the MISA internship pay and how long does it run?

Every intern post pays a stipend of R8,174.75 per month, and the programme runs for 24 months at the MISA Head Office in Centurion.

Who do I contact if I have a question about a post?

Enquiries go to To The T Recruitment on (010) 102 3607, as stated in the official advertisement.
